CES Review 2013
Here is my round up of CES (2013 International Consumer Electronics Show) 8th – 11 Jan 2013
So what did we get from CES for 2013 lots of new words I found out about Phablets (Phone –Tablets ) and PWBS (phones with big screens ) 4K –(Ultra- HD TV) – OLED TV (Curved Screen TV) -Qi (Wireless Power Charging)
Sorry darling but I need an even bigger screen with Ultra-HD TV 84 inches please.
Ok let’s get into some of the cool stuff 😉
Nice little unit from Kanex the Kanex meDrive is a file server for iOS devices adds that extra storage you always needed http://www.kanexlive.com/medrive
Logitech has been making remote controls for a while now I can’t recall the model of the last one I had but it was great until the LCD stopped working and I was too tight to buy another one. This new one looks even better the Harmony Touch http://www.logitech.com/en-us/remotes just hope it arrives in NZ soon. Acquire.co.nz has it
NVidia Shield now this could be interesting it also works as a controller for your PC, It would be great if they made it compatible with Xbox (it has the Xbox controller layout) and PlayStation http://shield.nvidia.com/ plus it also plays Android games too.
I need Power. Now if you’re like me on the road with my job it is fine when I have a car I can charge all my devices, but when I don’t, I also have a Mophie Juice pack but this one from
Nectar Power looks very handy they claim 2 weeks of mobile power.
What would be good is Wireless charging a few vendors have some products, but it has to go main stream. TDK has this nice little speaker unit with Wireless inductive charging (Qi) The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC)http://www.wirelesspowerconsortium.com/ at least has a Global standard.
Fulton Innovationhttp://ecoupled.com/en/wireless-power has some great technology if vendors take it up. Where you can take power from your tablet or phone and thus share power between devices wirelessly, which will be pretty handy when you are running low. But I don’t expect to see this on my new iPhone 6 or iPad 5 anytime soon, maybe Apple will surprise me with NFC (Near field communication) and Qi I am sure there will be lots of speculation before the new release.
Lego has been producing the Mindstorm range of built your own robots for a while now. The new one is called Lego Mindstorm EV3 you can even control it from your iOS or Android devices.
Wow I wondered what happened to Teac well check out this little gem Hifi system do you remember the DVD drives they still make.
LG and Samsung
have something new, but will it catch on just like everyone now has a 3D TV -well not I do you?LG and Samsung have an OLED TV with a Curved Screen of 5 degrees because as you already know we have phenomenon in human perception where some images seem to drop off or degrade towards the edges of a flat screen. Now I know about this phenomenon I will notice it all the time.
I used to work for Cobra a while ago selling Car Alarms, but this unit looks good Cobra iRadar combines industry leading radar/laser detection technology with the power of your smartphone works on iOS and Android devices.
I won’t get into all the new accessories that will be available in the coming month’s some will be cool and some will be the usual gimmicky ones that we all love to buy.

This is just a little insight into what 150,000 people will be viewing live at the show, I am glad I did not have to fly 14 hours into winter but I will get there one day.
Here are couple of things that I like and have crowd funded not just me but others have too. I will review these when I get them.
